Worthy of Change

I am 38 years old and have been battling addiction for years. I started using drugs at only 15 years old and have been to prison three times. This last time, I was incarcerated for almost five years and was released four months early. I sold and used hard drugs for 17 years. My children were neglected due to my lifestyle, not to mention the extensive abuse I took in from my first husband who abused me mentally and physically for years.

My first husband died 18 years ago and our daughter was only 11 months old when he passed. She has grown up without the love of a father. Then my own father was murdered in 2006. I remarried that year to a very abusive man who now has a life sentence for unrelated charges. I also have multiple felonies myself pertaining to drugs and violence. I AM NOT PROUD of everything I’ve done or been through…but I do know that I’m WORTHY OF CHANGE.

It’s possible to get clean and have a better life. I now am a dedicated mother to my children and fiancé to my future husband. I feel that my life has meaning now that I became clean and made a change for the better. I could go on and on as this is only a glimpse of my past.

Thank you for letting me share my story. I hope to inspire those who have been through or are going through situations like mine. Remember you ARE WORTHY OF CHANGE!
